Botswana Wildlife Safari

Day 1 - Windhoek
Your guide will meet you at the Windhoek International Airport and transfer you to accommodation in Windhoek where you will spend one night.

Accommodation: Lodge in Windhoek
Meal arrangements: None included

Day 2 - Waterberg Plateau Park
The Waterberg Plateau Park was created as a sanctuary for rare and endangered species of the Caprivi, and is one of Namibia's most diverse parks in terms of flora and fauna.

The park covers over 40,000ha and the plateau is 48km long with a width that varies from 8km to 16km. Several hikes have been laid out in the park that will take you right up the plateau.

Game such as roan and sable antelope are likely to be found when you join a game drive on top of the plateau. Many bird species and a diversity of mammals are to be found in the varying habitats of this scenic park.

Another fascinating aspect of the Waterberg is its interesting geology and it is, therefore, not surprising that the conservation of a representative area of the geologically important Etjo Sandstone Formation is one of the management objectives of the park.

Activities include game drives – operated by the park's rangers as an optional extra – and hiking trails accompanied by your guide.

Accommodation: Waterberg bungalows
Meal arrangements: Breakfast, lunch and dinner

Day 3 - Rundu, Caprivi
After breakfast you depart for the north to n’Kwazi Lodge. This lodge is on the banks of the Okavango River, 20km east of Rundu. The tranquility of lush riverine vegetation is combined with the comforts of this luxury lodge.

Many birds and semi-aquatic mammals are to be found along the banks of the river and the lodge offers guided boat cruises and there are several safe walks on the grounds.

Accommodation : N’Kwazi Lodge
Meal arrangements : Breakfast, lunch and dinner

Day 4 and 5 - Okavango Delta, Botswana
We leave Namibia and enter Botswana at Shakawe from where the narrow Okavango pan handle extends southwards for 100km from the Namibian border.

Drotsky’s Cabins is a charming camp beside a channel of the Okavango River. It is set amid a thick riverine forest with fabulous birdwatching and fine views across the reeds and papyrus. Activities include game viewing, water safaris and excellent bird watching – including the elusive Pel's Fishing Owl.

Accommodation: Drotsky’s Cabins
Meal arrangements: Breakfast, lunch and dinner

Day 6 and 7 - Mahango Game Park, Caprivi
Mahangu Lodge is a small and rustic camp on the edge of the Kavango River that forms the boundary between Mahangu Game Park and Bwabwata National Park. The lodge has a main deck area with an excellent view of the game-rich floodplains.

Sandwiched between the Botswana border and the Kavango River, the Mahango Game Park is a fascinating world of papyrus-lined channels, vast floodplains, dense riverine forests and woodlands. Animals such as hippo, elephant, roan, sable, red lechwe, reedbuck, bushbuck, tsessebe, blue wildebeest, impala, gemsbok and kudu can be seen.

Accommodation: Mahangu Lodge
Meal arrangements: Breakfast, lunch and dinner

Day 8 - Katima Mulilo, Caprivi
We drive through the Bwabwata National Park in the Caprivi to the town of Katima Mulilo where we spend the night on the bank of the Zambezi River.

Accommodation: Lodge in Katima Mulilo
Meal arrangements: Breakfast, lunch and dinner

Day 9 and 10 - Chobe, Botswana
We say good-bye to Namibia for the last time as we enter Botswana again en route to Chobe Safari Lodge, which is about an hour's drive away.

Game drives will be conducted in open 4x4 vehicles and we will go on boat cruises along the river and into the Chobe National Park - one of the most game-rich parks in Africa and home to the largest elephant population in the world.

The marshy river floodplain is inhabited by red lechwe and puku and plenty of more common plains herds. The best time for a river cruise is late afternoon, when hippos amble onto dry land and elephants arrive for a drink.

Accommodation: Chobe Safari Lodge
Meal arrangements: Breakfast, lunch and dinner

Day 11 and 12 - Victoria Falls, Zambia
After breakfast we have a short drive from Chobe to the Royal Chundu Lodge in Zambia. The lodge is on the edge of the Zambezi River about 60km upstream from Victoria Falls.

Wildlife of the Victoria Falls National Park that gather on the opposite bank make for good game viewing by boat. This lodge highlights the diverse wildlife, magnificent scenery and spellbinding sunsets of the Victoria Falls area.

The Victoria Falls is one of Zambia’s top contributions to the list of the world’s great attractions. In low-water season from September to November, you will get the clearest views of the falls as the river is low enough not to obscure the view with spray.

During our time here we will visit Victoria Falls and there are many extra optional activities which include: river rafting, scenic flights over the falls, game drives, boat cruises, fishing and birdwatching.

Accommodation : Royal Chundu Lodge
Meal arrangements : Breakfast and dinner

Day 13 - Livingstone, Zambia
After breakfast and depending on your flight we will stop at a local craft market on our way to Livingstone International Airport and the end of your African safari.

Meal arrangements: Breakfast
