Madagascar Tour - The Beauty of Madagascar
Day 1 - TANA - ANDASIBE
Touching down at Ivato International Airport in Tana, and leave for Andasibe/Perinet. Birdwatching, a visit to the town of Moramanga and several places of interest en route. Night walk for nocturnal creatures!
Day 2 - ANDASIBE
Vist the montane rainforest of Andasibe / Perinet National Park for lemurs and other interesting fauna and flora. Vakona Private Reserve is also visited for close-up encounters of lemurs. Several colourful orchids can be seen in season.
Day 3 - ANDASIBE - TANA - FORT DAUPHIN
After breakfast, Tana, the capital of Madagascar. En route we stop at the Pereyras Nature farm. We board our plane at Ivato International Airport late afternoon and fly to Fort Dauphin.
Day 4 - FORT DAUPHIN - BERENTY
Visit Berenty Private Reserve, which lies about 80 km from Fort - Dauphin. En route spectacular landscape scenery. Berenty, known as the kingdom of lemurs, with possibilities of Ring-tailed, Dancing and Brown Lemurs as well as the nocturnal Lepilemurs and Mouse Lemurs. Night walk for nocturnal creatures.
Day 5 - BERENTY - FORTDAUPHIN - TULEAR - IFATY
After an pre-breakfast walk, we depart for Fort Dauphin to be in time for our transfer flight to Tulear. From Tulear we drive to Ifaty and check in at our lodge.
Day 6 - IFATY
Today we visit Reserve Domergue - a spiny forest reserve with spectacular birdlife and mind-blowing plants. Of all the amazing plants in this reserve we admire and photograph the strange looking Baobab Trees of Madagascar. Afternoon at leisure.
Day 7 - IFATY - ISALO
En route to Isalo National Park, we visit the Arboretum d’ Antsokay Botanical Garden. Arrive Isalo mid afrternoon and view a spectacular sunset at Fenêtre de l’ Isalo, a natural rock-formation having the shape of the window.
DAY 8 - ISALO
A full day at Isalo National Park. Lemurs, natural beauty, a refreshing swim in a spectacular natural pool, facinating plants and a couple of birds will entertain us for times at end!
DAY 9 - IFATY - AMBALAVO
After breakfast we drive to Ambalavo. The scenery is mind-blowing, as usual, with interesting Malagasy history from your local guide! We visit Anja Private Reserve before we enter Ambalavo for lemurs and history. At Ambalavo, we visit the primitive, but effective paper factory.
DAY 10 - AMBALAVO - RANOMAFANA
We leave for Ranomafana National Park after breakfast and visit the Soavita Vineyard for an “eccentric wine tasting experience”! As the sun sets, we leave on a “night expedition” into the forest!
DAY 11 - RANOMAFANA
A full day at Ranomafana National Park. Ranomafana’s highlight is the recently discovered but scarce Golden Bamboo Lemurs. Other possibilities include Greater Bamboo Lemurs and the striking Milne-Edwards Diadem Sifaka Lemur.
DAY 12 - RANOMAFANA -AMBOSITRA - ANTSIRABE
After breakfast we continue onto Antsirabe with a stop at Ialantsara Private Park for more lemurs. Ambositra is also visited - the centre of Madagascar's wood carving industry. Antsirabe is branded as the centre of Madagascar’s beer industry, therefore, we stay over for the night!
DAY 13 - ANTSIRABE - TANA
After breakfast we drive back to Antananarivo. Before entering the capital, we pay a brief visit to Ambatolampy – a massive agricultural city and also known as a source of aluminium.
DAY 14 - TANA - PARIS/JHB
We visit the market in town for souvenirs in the morning. Depending on your time of departure, you will be transferred to the airport in time for your departure flight.
